Dr Winbow has over 30 years’ experience as a consultant psychiatrist within the NHS and private sectors. He started as a NHS Consultant with the North East Thames Regional Authority working mainly in Essex until moving full-time to private practice.
He has held several senior positions within private medical and psychiatric hospitals within the Priory and Cygnet groups before founding Private Psychiatry in 2008, where he is Medical Director and practises as a consultant adult psychiatrist.
Dr Winbow is a member of the Association of European Psychiatrists (AEP), a member of the Independent Doctors Federation (IDF) as well as the Federation of Independent Practitioner Organisations (FIPO). He is also a former member of the General Medical Council’s panel of Psychiatric Examiners and Assessors and sat on Fitness to Practice Panels as a Specialist Advisor.
Dr Winbow is currently Medical Advisor for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, a Clinical Advisor at the General Pharmaceutical Council and a Specialist Advisor for the Care Quality Commission.
He has held seminars for doctors, the clergy, voluntary organisations, social services, primary health care teams and local councils and has appeared on television and radio as an advisor and in an educational capacity.
He is fully trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Counselling and Hypnotherapy as well as being an advanced EMDR therapist.
Dr Winbow practises from Private Psychiatry based in Leigh in Kent and at clinics in Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Croydon and London.
