When you have received the test kit, you can help your patient to take the sample, and fill out the enclosed requisition form. If we send the kit directly to the patient; they’ll need to complete as much as they can of the requisition form, and we will email you the clinician section to complete once it has been received back at the Myogenes office.
Please explain to your patient that it’s important they do not eat, drink, chew gum, smoke or brush their teeth for at least one hour before completing their sample. When the sample is complete, it should be placed with the form in the enclosed stamped addressed envelope and posted back to us.
When the sample arrives at Myogenes, we will email you and/or your patient, to confirm we’ve received it. If the clinician part of the requisition form is incomplete (i.e. if the test was sent to your patient directly) then we will email it to you for signature.
The sample will be sent to the laboratory for testing, and when the results are ready, they’ll be sent to you, the Ordering Doctor, only. They are sent via a secure link that is password protected.
Our laboratories offer you the opportunity to call and have a discussion with the lab technicians, all highly trained geneticists and scientists. You can ask them any questions and they will help you formulate a course of action and medication plan for your patient. This is especially useful in complex and challenging cases.
