Having practised medicine for more than 30 years, and worked as an Integrative Consultant Psychiatrist for the last 18, my range of expertise covers General Practice, Psychiatry, Pain Psychology, and Mind-Body Medicine.
As an Integrative Consultant Psychiatrist, my approach is one that focuses on mind-body optimisation, which assesses individuals as a whole and in context. Mental and physical wellbeing are equally important, and go hand in hand.
I am also a mind-body and trauma informed expert clinician. I have a special interest in neuroplastic pain and Psychophysiologic Disorders (PPD), and I am skilled in the diagnostic assessment of these conditions. I am a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), the World Institute of Pain and The British Pain Society.
I help patients by integrating conventional psychiatric methods and modalities, with traditional/holistic approaches to wellbeing. I also work closely with complementary healthcare practitioners. I encourage and support my patients in making positive lifestyle changes, including improvements to diet and nutrition, sleep, pain management, stress reduction, giving up smoking, and overall enhancements to wellbeing.
From patients with ADHD, anxiety spectrum conditions, mood disorders, chronic pain, stress, and trauma, to those battling addiction, or suffering early onset or established dementia, their road to recovery, or quality of life, has been hugely enhanced by my methods. Whilst medication may play a vital role, I prescribe it as part of a holistic treatment plan.
