Dr Mike McPhillips has been a UK-registered psychiatrist since 1993. As such, he is a fully-qualified physician, with a degree in Medical Sciences from Cambridge University (1984), a post-graduate degree in Medicine and Surgery from London University (1990), followed by a 3-year psychiatric rotation at Charing Cross Hospital in London.
It is this thorough grounding in medicine that ensures that psychiatrists like Dr McPhillips understand not only their patient’s mental conditions, but also the physical conditions that may be affecting their mental states, and the benefits and risks of any drugs they might prescribe.
After three years as a Psychiatric Registrar and Lecturer at Imperial College Medical School, Dr McPhillips spent five years as a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He entered private practice in 2003.
From his consulting rooms in Chelsea, Dr McPhillips not only treats London-based patients but also people from around the world, increasingly via Skype. He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and has had many articles published in reputable journals, including The Lancet and The British Journal of Psychiatry.
